Chilli Cheese Dog Bake

by Rachel

Can you think of a better cheat day meal than these baked chilli cheese hot dogs? Me neither! Growing up, hot dogs were the perfect fun day meal or snack. We would get them at stadiums or attraction parks with my parents. Maybe that’s why I associate hot dogs with fun activities to this day.   Even if you’re staying at home and not going anywhere, you can still have this fun day dish. Believe me, your kids will be thrilled! It is a comfort meal for the whole family and the perfect cheat day dish. Make sure that you use hot chilli for the recipe!

How to make the Chilli Cheese Dog Bake?

Preheat the oven to 375 F degrees.

Grease a glass baking dish with cooking spray.

Pour some hot chilli into the dish and spread.

Unroll the dough and cut it into 4 even strips.

Place a half of one cheese stick on each side of the hot dog.

Wrap your pizza dough around the hot dog and cheese.

Place the hot dogs on top of the hot chilli.

Bake for 15-20 minutes.

While the hot dogs are baking, microwave butter until it’s melted.

Stir some garlic powder and parsley into the melted butter.

Take the dish out of the oven and brush some butter mixture over the hot dogs.

Serve while it’s hot!

Can I make my chilli cheese dog bake spicy?

If you like it spicy, you can make it spicy! I recommend adding some jalapeño slices on top of the dogs before baking. You can also add some pickled jalapeños to your ready hot dogs. It is entirely up to you what herbs and spices you use. Make this recipe your own!

Why is my pizza dough not cooking?

Your pizza dough might not be cooking because you’re using cold ingredients. Always make sure to bring all of the ingredients to room temperature before placing them in the oven. You can microwave the dough before assembling the dogs. The chilli has to be hot when you put the dish in the oven. If you cook with cold chilli, it won’t allow the dogs to bake.

How can I make my chilli cheese dog bake healthier?

It’s not easy, but it’s possible! You can replace every ingredient that you find unhealthy with a healthier alternative. Use turkey or vegan hot dogs, low-fat cheese, and gluten-free pizza dough. Even though this recipe is not the healthiest, it’s good for the mind and body to have a cheat day from time to time!
