Banana Split Fluff Salad

What’s the perfect combination of healthy and sweet? Fruit, of course! Take it one step further with this banana split fluff salad. Alright, this salad isn’t exactly a salad and it’s not as healthy as we’d like it to be. However, it is delicious nonetheless!

This salad is perfect for an easy homemade dessert. You can serve it to your kids or guests, or eat one on your own with a cup of hot tea. Keep in mind that it’s not a mobile dish and you shouldn’t keep it in the fridge for too long. Our banana split fluff salad is best enjoyed on the same day.

How to make Banana Split Fluff Salad?

1- Stir the pineapple and pudding mix together until it thickens.


2- Use a spatula to fold in the cool whip.


3- Stir in your marshmallows, nuts, chocolate chips, bananas, and cherries.


4- Chill in the fridge for an hour before serving.

Is banana split fluff a salad or a dessert?

It’s both! Technically, it is a dessert because it has pudding, marshmallows, and chocolate chips in it. However, you can also call it a fruit salad because it is packed with fruit. This way you can let yourself eat a portion or two with no guilt!

Bananas tend to get quite mushy and it can be annoying. If you’re serving your salad later in the day, put the bananas in right before serving. This way you’ll get the freshest bananas and they won’t get brown!

Ingredients

  • 1 – 3.4 ounce box instant banana pudding
  • 1 – 20 ounce can crushed pineapple (do not drain)
  • 1 – 8 ounce container Cool Whip
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts + 2 Tablespoons for garnish
  • 1/3 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 2 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 2 – 10 ounce jars maraschino cherries, halved

Instructions

Stir together the pudding mix and pineapple until dissolved and thickened.
Fold in the Cool Whip with a spatula.
Gently stir in the marshmallows, nuts, chocolate chips, bananas, and cherries.
Refrigerate at least 1 hour to chill. Makes about 8 cups salad.
