Deli Turkey Pockets

by Rachel

Even though turkey on Thanksgiving never gets old, sometimes you just want something a little different. What if we found a way to keep turkey as the main dish but deviate from the original recipe? Say hello to our deli turkey pockets!

Deli turkey pockets are a unique alternative to your classic poultry dishes. Instead of getting a whole turkey and working with the meat, you can buy a few turkey slices at your local deli. This recipe will be different every single time you make it, and that’s its magic.

How to make Deli Turkey Pockets?

Preheat the oven to 350 F degrees.

Make Stove Top stuffing according to package instructions.

Wrap some stuffing in a turkey slice. Do the same for the remaining stuffing and turkey slices.

Put a toothpick in the middle of each turkey pocket to keep the turkey from unwrapping.

Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes.

Use a Knorr packet to make gravy.

Pour some gravy over the deli turkey pockets and leave some for later.

Serve while it’s hot!

What kind of turkey slices are best for turkey pockets?

That’s entirely up to you! I like to go with whatever is on sale at the moment, but you can splurge and get an extravagant variety. We’re going for a smoky flavor here, so all that matters is how you cook it and how much gravy you use.

Should I get thick slices of turkey for turkey pockets?

I say the thicker the better, until a certain point. Think about the fact that you’re going to have to wrap stuffing in your turkey slices. If the slice is so thick that it won’t even go around the stuffing, it’s probably too thick. Some people like a thin slice that leaves more room for stuffing and the flavor of gravy.

What should I serve with my deli turkey pockets?

Because this can be a recipe for a modern Thanksgiving, I recommend going with some classic Thanksgiving sides. Think mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, peas, and maybe a casserole. Most importantly, don’t forget to make enough gravy for everyone!
